When you’re planning a trip to Vancouver and sorting through Marriott Bonvoy options, the Sheraton Vancouver Wall Centre is bound to show up — but is it worth your points?

I recently stayed one night during a part-business, part-leisure trip, and debated long and hard whether to redeem points or pay cash. Here’s everything you need to know before booking — including how I made my decision and what the stay was really like.

Did Using Points Beat Paying Cash at the Sheraton Wall Centre?

Originally, I booked the Sheraton Wall Centre using 38,000 Marriott Bonvoy points, but with a cash rate of just $234 CAD, I changed my mind last minute and paid cash instead.

That’s because spring season (like my March booking) tends to offer much more reasonable cash rates in Vancouver—typically $200–$300 CAD, depending on the day. But come summer? Prices skyrocket. Expect $500–$600+ CAD per night and points rates between 59,000–73,000, which is steep for what’s essentially a mid-tier Marriott property.

So for me, paying $234 CAD in cash and saving my 38K points for a higher-value redemption was a no-brainer.

What to Expect: Two Towers, Spacious Rooms, and a Central Location

This is a massive property split between the North and South Towers:

  • South Tower: Home to the club lounge
  • North Tower: Houses the gym and pool

The walk between towers is longer than you’d expect — almost a mini indoor trek. If the gym or pool is a priority, book in the North Tower. If you want club lounge access or convenience, opt for the South Tower.

Room Experience: Upgraded Club Level Corner Room

Thanks to Marriott Bonvoy status, I was upgraded to a corner room on the club level (25th floor). No suites were available, but I appreciated the bump.

Room Highlights:

  • Tons of natural light thanks to the corner layout
  • A balcony with skyline views (and downtown noise — more on that later)
  • Comfortable king bed, soft linens
  • Coffee maker, mini fridge, robe, and outlets on both sides of the bed
  • Clean overall — not spotless, but far from grimy

Noise note: Even on the 25th floor, you’ll hear downtown hustle (sirens, nightlife, traffic). It didn’t bother me, but light sleepers may want earplugs.

Amenities: Gym, Pool, and Club Lounge

Club Lounge (South Tower)

The club lounge is a highlight — spread across two levels with plenty of seating.

Perks include:

  • Full hot breakfast
  • Snacks available throughout the day
  • Evening hors d’oeuvres that could pass for dinner (think: warm items, salads, breads)

If lounge access is part of your booking or status, it’s absolutely worth taking advantage of.

Gym + Pool (North Tower)

The fitness center is large and split into two rooms — one for free weights, the other for machines and cardio.

The pool is standard — indoor, not huge, but nice to have in a downtown location.

I didn’t snap photos here, but you’ll find public photos online that accurately reflect the setup.

Location: Central & Walkable

Located right in the heart of downtown Vancouver, the Sheraton Wall Centre is within easy walking distance to:

  • Yaletown
  • Robson Street
  • Granville shopping and nightlife
  • SkyTrain access

The location is one of its biggest strengths — it’s easy to get around whether you’re working or exploring.

Check-In & Service

Check-in was smooth and professional. The front desk acknowledged my Marriott status, offered a welcome gift, and processed the upgrade efficiently.

Overall, staff interactions were polite and helpful, though not particularly standout.

Would I Stay Again?

Yes — but I may also try a different Bonvoy property in Vancouver next time for comparison.

If you’re staying here, I’d recommend:

  • Booking cash over points, unless you find a rare sweet spot in pricing.
  • Choosing North Tower for gym/pool, South Tower for lounge access.
  • Aiming for a high-floor corner room for light, views, and space.

Final Verdict: Is the Sheraton Wall Centre Worth Your Points?

Only if you have no better use for them. The low cents-per-point return makes cash bookings a smarter move most of the year. Save your Bonvoy points for aspirational redemptions where you can get 1.2cpp or higher — and enjoy this property at a reasonable cash rate instead.

That said, the Sheraton Wall Centre is a solid full-service hotel in a prime downtown spot with generous elite perks, good amenities, and excellent walkability.
